Module Development

Vulkan Hotel

A website for a Wellness Hotel set in the heart of the Eifel region, designed to evoke a sense of relaxation and connection with nature.

The site distinguishes itself through a rich, immersive visual experience that showcases the hotel, the surrounding landscape, and a variety of activities available to guests.

Built using the Drupal Layout Builder, the site empowers the owners to effortlessly create and manage page content.

Unternehmer-Manufaktur.com

Unternehmer-manufaktur.com is the corporate website of a well-established consulting firm specializing in the hotel and restaurant industry.

I built the site from the ground up using Drupal, showcasing the company's services, team members, and a media-rich “Mediathek” that includes videos, articles, images, and documents.

The firm offers a variety of consulting solutions, each with dedicated, custom contract pages designed to facilitate inquiries specific to that service.

Finest Beer Selection

“Finest Beer Selection” is a prestigious international beer tasting competition, where breweries from around the world submit their finest brews to be judged by a panel of experts.

The website combines two previously separate platforms: the tasting logic from Meininger’s wine competitions and a WordPress-based informational site about the “Finest Beer Selection.” These elements were merged into a unified Drupal site. To maintain consistency, the visual design of the original WordPress site was preserved and applied across all tasting-related pages.

European Cetacean Society

The European Cetacean Society is a distinguished non-profit organization that brings together European marine biologists and researchers focused on cetaceans—whales, dolphins, and porpoises.

Through its website, entirely built by me, the society manages memberships and facilitates its annual conference, which attracts hundreds of attendees each year. As part of the conference process, researchers can submit paper abstracts for peer review. Accepted submissions are then presented at the event.

Digital Asset Management

For a digital studio, I developed a digital asset management system which was used to track resources on web projects, and lead an offshore development team in China.

The project used model-driven design with round-trip software/UML engineering: changing the UML automatically changed the software classes and vice versa: the design was the software. This kind of visual software design was invaluable in helping to communicate with a software team that was half-way around the earth and did not speak English that well.

TV using Drupal

This client runs a website for streaming TV.

When they hit the limits of what they could developed themselves, they called me in to develop the solutions along very strict technical requirements.

This included

  • switching TV-channels using Ajax,
  • a complicated user management system with main and sub-users;
  • specialized access controls,
  • automatic recognition of terminal-hardware and subsequent automated login,
  • and much more.

Furthermore, I enhanced the same customer’s online-billing system.

Marriott / Marriott Vacation Club

I expanded the Sales and Booking Software system (“Solar”) for Marriott Vacation Club, used worldwide to sell timeshares in Marriott's resorts.

Through it, every unit in all resorts could be sold and booked.

This project used enterprise level software (Java / J2EE, EJB, WebSphere, Oracle), as well as web-services to integrate the system with other Marriott reservation systems.

I implemented a webservice that pushed data toanother system, as well as various graphical interface improvements.

Intranet "Paperless Office System"

I developed a simple intranet system that allowed the company to manage its clients and staff. Documents could be scanned and connected with other data. This included employee records, vendors data and bills, etc.

  • Architected and implemented the application
  • Designed and created the content types for Applicants, clients, contractors, employees, and their various document types.
  • Lots of forms and Views,
  • Custom Module to import the scanned files from the system.
  • Some Template work, basic theming.

Corporate website for game-consoles

Subcontractor for an agency, which developed the site.

  • Drupal 7
  • Feature Based Development
  • This is a huge corporate site with many subsections and looks, and I set up several larger subsections.
  • Site is responsive.  But it has to be able to use Drupal ‘panels.’ I did a test using Adaptive Theme + Panels.  It worked well, but subsequently a custom responsive theme was used.
  • Selected Modules: Features, Panels, Views, Display Suite
  • Git / Jenkins, Storm Ticket System
