The European Cetacean Society is a distinguished non-profit organization that brings together European marine biologists and researchers focused on cetaceans—whales, dolphins, and porpoises.
Through its website, entirely built by me, the society manages memberships and facilitates its annual conference, which attracts hundreds of attendees each year. As part of the conference process, researchers can submit paper abstracts for peer review. Accepted submissions are then presented at the event.
Coordinating the conference—including assigning and tracking reviews, evaluating presentations, setting up workshops and events, and compiling the results—is a significant logistical endeavor, handled entirely through the website's Drupal system that I custom-built for this purpose.
The site also incorporates a robust e-commerce solution (Drupal Commerce) to manage memberships and sell a range of tickets for the conference, workshops, and social events.
I developed the site’s complete logic, particularly around the abstract review workflow and e-commerce functionality.
